‘Black Star Line – The Story of Music Garvey’ shines a spotlight on the life, character and ideology of Marcus Garvey, as well his relevance in 2020 and more specifically how his ideas of black independence (financial, trade and mental) have transcended through time and are still relevant today. It demonstrates how the thoughts and feelings of the man who wanted to build the black nation influenced global figures such as Malcolm X, The Black Panthers and many more who went on to impact their generations and many to follow, right through to 2020 with one of the people who sits at the head of the world’s most potent and financially successful genre – Jay-Z.
